The Countdown has begun: 39 days until I turn the big 4-0! Running a Disney Princess Half Marathon is #2 on my list.
I’m not a runner by any stretch of the imagination as far as someone who LOVES to run and is really “good” at it. I was invited by a friend/crossfit buddy two years ago to run and gave it a try.
I didn’t love it but I love my friend, spending time with her AND getting in my cardio so stuck with it. I moved over a year ago and lost my running buddy but decided to keep it in my routine.
One of my best friends had the Disney Princess Half Marathon on her bucket list and encouraged me to go with her so I said yes! I didn’t even know how far a half marathon was and I’ve only done a 5K ONCE!
It’s 13.1 miles y’all!
Check back with me for updates on my training and progress.
Our family loves Disney. It’s a different experience at each new age of my girls and we’ve been three times and each time was a new adventure. These were from our latest trip in December. It was beautiful with the lights and we were able to see the electrical parade!
I’m excited about going on a girls trip and exploring Disney without kids in tow.
I know little about running the PROPER way so I’ve made mistakes along the way and will probably continue to learn. I had in my mind that the longer my stride the quicker I’d finish.
My knee was killing me shortly after I began my app. I looked it up online and realized you should NOT have a long stride due to it being harder on your knees!
Aye yai yai!
So I laid off for a bit and stuck with walking. I have no time goal set. I want to show up, have fun with my friend, and complete the race. Anything more than that is a bonus.
So often we hesitate because we aren’t the best at something or are afraid of failure but showing up is half the battle.
It’s going to be magical!
What’s on your 40 by 40 bucket list? Is the Disney Princess Half Marathon on it? I’d love to hear some of them.
