Day 2: 30 Days to a Healthier Summer
Its Day 2 of our 30 Days to a Healthier Summer series. Today was the last day of school here for my two girls in public school and the second week of break for my homeschooler.

Today try Moving around for at LEAST 30 minutes a day.
Remember the digestion we spoke about in Day 1? Being active and moving around will also help your digestion. This sounds like common sense but many people, ESPECIALLY those who work at a desk and/or at home are NOT getting in the movement they need each day.
The more you move the more water you’ll want to drink which will help you as well.
Think about how long you sit each day. Start with your commute to work if you work outside of the home. I live outside of a major metropolitan city and the average drive to work is 30 to 40 minutes! Now how long do you sit in a chair without taking a break to get up and move?
It really adds up!
Set a timer on your phone or watch the first time you sit in your chair at work and see how long you sit. You may be surprised at what you find.
Take a break every 30 minutes to stretch and walk around for a bit. If this isn’t possible, aim for every hour.
You can also buy devices to track your steps, alert you when you’ve been sitting to long (this and the heart rate monitor are why I bought my Apple Watch).
Are you able to work out or walk before work? I work from home but feel better when I begin my day with physically activity. It sets my mind in motion and I just feel better.
Do you have a neighbor you can walk with in the morning? I walk with two neighbors who work during the day. One leaves at 5:10 a.m. to make her hour long trek to the office so we walk on her Fridays off or Saturday mornings.
My other neighbor leaves at 7:30 a.m. We walk around 5:30 a.m. for 30 to 45 minutes. We’re able to catch up and invest in a friendship we wouldn’t be able to otherwise due to kiddos and crazy schedules.
Try this instead of lunch or Starbucks date. You’ll save money and be doing something great for your health and friendship.
If you can’t fit your walk in during the morning, try going for walks after work. This is great to connect with your family and exercise your dog if you have one!
