Delicious Cabbage Recipe
I joined a great company called Greenling that delivers groceries from local farmers to your doorstep twice a week. It has pushed me to try new things and use seasonal ingredients in our weekly meals. Our order last week contained beautiful cabbage. I haven’t made many cabbage meals so I was a little lost for what to make.
Some of the health benefits of this cruciferous vegetable are:
- Relieves Constipation and soreness
- Boosts Immune System
- Is a source of Amino Acid Glutamine that is believed to help people suffering from inflammation.
I found a great recipe online at www.allrecipes.com and then tweaked it to fit our needs. This is the result. It was DELICIOUS! Our girls ate it up for lunch and my husband and I ate it with our dinner.
Who knew cabbage could be so tasty?!
1/2 head of cabbage
1 sliced onion
2 cloves garlic
6 oz (half pkg.) uncured bacon
Cut your cabbage and separate leaves. Steam cabbage. While your cabbage is steaming, saute your onions and garlic and cook your bacon with a little bit of olive oil. Place all ingredients into a bowl and serve.
